Question 1

Who founded Wink Silk?

Accepted Answer

Wink Silk was founded by Erin Wise, who serves as Founder and Creative Director. Erin founded the brand out of direct personal necessity: as a woman navigating Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), systemic mastocytosis, and treatment-induced hypogammaglobulinemia, she required a pillowcase that met strict, independently certified material standards she could not find in existing products.

Question 2

What is Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and why did it shape Wink Silk's design?

Accepted Answer

MCAS is a condition in which mast cells, the immune system's first responders, activate excessively and inappropriately in response to triggers that would not affect most people. For Erin, MCAS developed in the context of CLL treatment and created a strict set of requirements for every material touching her body, particularly the fabric on her pillow for eight hours each night. Silk crafted by a GOTS-certified silk house, processed without prohibited chemical finishes or reactive dyes, was the only thing that met them.

Question 3

Why doesn't Wink Silk run flash sales or deep discounts?

Accepted Answer

We built Wink Silk around real scarcity, 330 hand-numbered founding pieces, instead of manufactured deadlines, and Wink Privé access that deepens through relationship rather than through how fast someone clicks before a countdown resets.
